Suncoast Parkway
Client: Florida Department of Transportation,
Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise
Location: Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus
Counties, Florida
Construction Cost: $300 Million
Williams Geotechnical Group, a business unit of
Gannett Fleming, was the independent assurance firm
on the Suncoast Parkway I project for Florida’s Turnpike
Enterprise, which is a part of the Florida Department
of Transportation. Our firm provided field and
laboratory testing and inspections and is also serving
as the Turnpike’s district materials laboratory manager,
overseeing the acceptance testing of seven construction
engineering and inspection firms and ten contractors
working on this project.
The Suncoast Parkway I project is a 42-mile, limited-access toll highway beginning at a connection with the Veterans Expressway in Hillsborough County, and terminating at U.S. 98 in northern Hernando County. The corridor runs generally in a north-south direction, staying west of Crews Lake in Pasco County and between the community of Spring Hill and the Hernando County Airport in Hernando County. The northern terminus at U.S. 98 lies just south of the Hernando County and Citrus County line.
