Groundwater Geophysics
The exploration of groundwater resources can be greatly enhanced through the use of geophysics and Williams has experienced geophysicists who provide cost-effective solutions to groundwater projects. Williams uses electrical resistivity methods to locate fractured aquifers and water-bearing sands and gravels. Downhole geophysical logs are also very useful in locating water-producing zones intersected by wells. Groundwater geophysics allow for the location, identification, and/or evaluation of:
- Water resources
- Buried channels and valleys
- Cones of depression around pumping wells
- Fresh water-salt water interface
- Geothermal resources
- Near-vertical, water-bearing fractures
- Transmissive fractures intersected by wells
- Water table
